
Dr. Theodora Pinnock. Dr. Pinnock is a board eligible pediatrician with 20 years of experience. She completed a pediatric residency which included some specialized neurologic training at the Royal Hammersmith Hospital in London, England. After residency, she worked for a year as staff physician and director of the step down hospital unit at the Lubbock State School in Lubbock, Texas.
She completed a two year post doctoral fellowship in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics under the tutelage of world renown developmental pediatrician, Dr. Melvin Levine. Dr. Pinnock joined the faculty at Vanderbilt from 1992-97 and received lots of experience assessing preschool children with autism and school aged children with learning problems and ADHD.
She worked on site in three Metro schools evaluating, screening and treating over a thousand preschool and elementary aged children. In addition, she assessed hundreds of children in Head Start and day care aboard a mobile clinic, which include training nursing students to screen and access. From 2003-2009, Dr. Pinnock served as State Director of Maternal and Child Health for the Tennessee Department of Health. In this role, she helped develop national and statewide policy affecting children. She trained persons statewide on infant mortality, effects of methamphetamine on children, using developmental screening to early identify children with disabilities, and how to identify children with autism. This entailed working closely with families, legislators, advocates, various federal and state agencies, managed care organizations, other child serving state departments and judicial systems.
Dr. Pinnock has been married for 15 years and has five children and three grand children. She presents nationally and statewide on children issues. She is an active community advocate for children issues.
